Kangpokpi: Some locals of Motbung, Sapermeina Char-hazare in Kangpokpi District whose houses have been set on fire by miscreants are taking refuge in Awang Sekmai.

Around 135 people, including children, are taking shelter at relief camps set up at CH.Tula Singh Junior High School, Meira Shang and Parao in Awang Sekmai. While others are taking shelter at the Assam Rifles camp in Motbung and some at Sapermeina Police station. Awang Potshangbam Khunou Youth Development Club donated mattresses, clothes and food items to the victims.

Reportedly, around 35 houses in Motbung were vandalised yesterday after the clashes that erupted after the “Tribal Solidarity March” in Churachandpur District. The victims appealed to the government to bring a permanent solution to the crisis.
