Naga Legislatures’ Forum, Manipur, Condemns Killing of Wilson Thanga

UKHRUL: The Naga Legislatures’ Forum in Manipur has strongly condemned the senseless killing of Wilson Thanga, an innocent civilian and carpenter who was the sole breadwinner for his family, and the injury to two other individuals. The event occurred on May 13, 2026, on Tongjei Maril Road while Thanga and the two others were returning to their farmhouse from Dolang village.

The condemnation was signed by Manipur Deputy Chief Minister L. Dikho and several Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs): Khasim Vashum, Leishiyo Keishing, S.S. Olish, Dinganglung Gangmei, Janghemlung Panmei, Ram Muivah, J. Kumo Sha, and the Forum’s Convener, Awangbow Newmai.

“This barbaric attack on unarmed civilians is an inhumane and cowardly act that has no place in any civilized society. Such violence is a direct assault on the rule of law, human dignity, and the fragile peace and harmony of our state,” stated the Naga Legislatures’ Forum.

The forum also appeals to the organization or group that is detaining innocent civilians in various locations to release them unharmed. “At this critical moment, we urge all communities to exercise restraint, reject violence in all its forms, and stand united in safeguarding peace, justice, and communal harmony,” it added.

The Naga Legislatures’ Forum extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved family, praying for strength and comfort during this time of immense grief. Additionally, it wishes a speedy and full recovery to those who were injured and calls on everyone to come together in resolve against terror and violence.
