‘Naga Mass Rally’ in Kohima and Ukhrul tomorrow, set to be the biggest protests against AFSPA

Kohima/Ukhrul: Nagaland State capital Kohima and Ukhrul district headquarters in Manipur is all set to launch one of the biggest Naga mass rallies in history against the imposition of unconstitutional and draconian Armed Forces Special Power Act, 1958.

The ‘Naga Mass Rally’ is being organized in pursuit of justice and in solidarity with the victims of the Oting massacre and Mon killing of December 4 and 5, jointly by ANSAM, TKS and Tangkhul Frontal Organizations under the aegis of Naga Students’ Federation.  

A communiqué by All Naga Student’s Association, Manipur (ANSAM) of December 15 stated that the mass rally is being organized to register strong resentment against the AFSPA regime and demand for its immediate repeal.

The two separate ‘Naga Mass Rally’ according to NSF will be held simultaneously.

One will be held in Kohima for Nagaland State, spearheaded by NSF and its federating units from 11 am at Old MLA junction followed by brief program on December 17. Meanwhile in Manipur, ANSAM’s constituent units and subordinate bodies will spearhead the other mass rally in Ukhrul headquarters, joined by representative of NSF, United Naga Council (UNC), Naga Women’s Union (NWU), Naga People’s Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR), Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL), Tangkhul Naga Wungnao Long (TNWL), Tangkhul Katamnao Long (TKS) Friday.

The ‘Naga Mass Rally’ in Ukhrul headquarters is proposed to begin at 11:30 am on December 17, Friday, from two locations, Dungrei Junction and Kharasom Junction and converge at Tangkhul Long ground.
