Ukhrul, October 4: The Naga Students’ Union Bangalore (NSUB) hosted its 56th Freshers’ Meet cum Nagas’ Night on October 2, 2025, at St. Joseph’s University Auditorium under the theme “Anchored in Identity, Rising with Leadership.” The event, a longstanding tradition of the union, warmly welcomed new students to the Naga community in Bengaluru while celebrating the rich cultural heritage, unity, and leadership spirit of the Nagas.
Drawing an audience of over 2,500 students, dignitaries, and well-wishers, the celebration stood out as one of the largest gatherings of the Naga community in the city this year.

In her presidential address, NSUB President Nungsangmongla Ozukum emphasized the deeper meaning of the year’s theme. “Anchored in identity, because our roots define us. Our culture, values, faith, and heritage are not barriers to progress—they are our foundation, our compass. Rising with leadership, because the world today needs leaders who are authentic, visionary, and grounded in service,” she said.
The occasion was graced by Chief Guest Abu Metha, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Chairman of IDAN, and Vice President of the Athletics Federation of India, along with Guest Speaker Dr. Adaina, Professor at Azim Premji University, Bengaluru. Both speakers inspired the students with insights on visionary leadership, purpose, and community service.
Adding to the evening’s vibrancy, celebrated Naga hip-hop artist Moko Koza delivered a powerful performance highlighting themes of identity, resilience, and pride. The event also featured cultural showcases, artistic performances, and the much-anticipated Mr. & Ms. Fresher 2025 contest.

Mr. Mughatolu Swu from the Sumi community and Ms. Worchuipem P from the Tangkhul community were crowned Mr. and Ms. Fresher NSUB 2025 respectively. The titles of Ms. Popularity and Mr. Popularity went to Sungnem Sutila from the Lamkang community and Randanbemo B. Shitiri from the Lotha community.
