Chandel: The Naga Students’ Union Chandel (NSUC) expressed its dismay at the imposition of internet ban in the entire state of Manipur.

The Union expressed that Chandel District has always remained a peaceful zone even though some areas of Manipur have been engulfed in violence. “We understand the imperative of the government in taking necessary measures to curb the ongoing crisis but imposing mobile internet ban in peaceful zone like Chandel defies rationality,” it added. It also said that the people of Chandel have put in great efforts and sacrifices in maintaining peace and tranquility in the district.

The statement also stressed the adverse impact owing to the internet ban, their efforts have gone in vain as the district has been unnecessarily victimized by depriving internet service which is the basic need these days. “People from all walks of life in general and students, competitive exam aspirants and entrepreneurs in particular have been paralyzed in many ways due to non-availability of mobile internet services in the peace loving district,” NSUC said.
