Imphal: Naga Women Union (NWU) president Asha Wungnam said that SS Olish is the second elected MLA from among the Naga women in the Manipur Legislative Assembly. Hangmila Shaiza was the first Naga woman MLA in the state who was elected in 1990. It has been after 32 years that a Naga woman was elected as an MLA in Manipur, said the NWU president.

Asha Wungnam said this in the felicitation programme of SS Olish today at DSSS, Mantrpukhri, Imphal. The programme was organized by NWU.

SS Olish was elected from Chandel assembly constituency in the recently held Manipur Legislative Assembly election.

Asha Wungnam then expressed her happiness that a Naga woman was elected as an MLA again. She also said that every Naga woman is happy that a Naga woman is now in the highest decision making platform in the state.
