Dr Lorho S Pfoze, Member of Parliament from Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency wrote to Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Union Minister of External Affairs and Education on a request for establishment of Passport Offices in the District Headquarters of Ukhrul, Senapati and Churachandpur.

Expressing his concern over the matter, Dr Lorho S Pfoze who is also a member of Parliamentary Committee on Health & Family Welfare, Consultative Committee on Roads & Highways and Consultative Committee on Zonal Railway Users (NFR) in his letter argued that people from the Hill districts of Manipur are keen observers of globalization and the opportunities that comes along for further studies, jobs, economic development, adventure and exposure in the world beyond
borders and to broaden their outlook across the globe. As the people of these hill districts did not yet have the facilities for facilitating foreign travel and exploring the world, the need to open Passport Offices in the District Headquarters are felt extremely needful, the MP wrote in his letter.

He further said, taking into account the needfulness of the Ministry’s intervention, the member of parliament fervently requested the External Affairs Ministry to establish Passport Offices in the District Headquarters of Ukhrul, Senapati and Churachandpur of Manipur State.

Pressing the fact that over the years, the number of people traveling to foreign countries for studies and seeking job opportunities from these remote areas of the country have increased exponentially.
Prompting that the ministry’s kind early and favorable consideration will go a long way and help development and boost the economy of the people in those districts immensely, said Dr Lorho S Pfoze.

The MP’s letter also sparked conversation from section of people over his missing out two other major hill districts, namely Chandel and Tamenglong in the letter to the Union Minister, urging the Dr Lorho S Pfoze to include them in the request for establishment of Passport Offices in their districts headquarters.
