As a part of India’s move for a drug-free nation, the Nasha Mukt Bharat (NMB) campaign 2021 was held at Awontang community hall, Hunphun village on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, District Social Welfare Officer, Ukhrul Mathew Dangsa said that the main objective of organizing the campaign was to encourage community participation and cooperation in checking the menace of drug addiction and substance abuse in the society.
He continued that young people and children are the prime focus of the campaign which aimed to train a group of master volunteers who would work with relevant state agencies and NGOs to address the issue of drugs and intoxicants at the community level.

Master volunteers would be selected from among participants. These volunteers would also be given a certificate each, Dangsa informed.
Ukhrul Chief Medical Officer, Dr AS Kapangring and Project Director of Ukhrul-based, Born Again Rehabilitation Centre (BARC), Jannetta Kasar attended the campaign as resource persons.
Around 50 persons including youth and parents attended the event.
