New MHJU team calls on CM Biren, Assures to establish Press Club in Hill Districts

Senapati: A six member delegation led by its President, Peter Adani, new executive members of the Manipur Hills Journalists’ Union (MHJU) called on Manipur chief minister, N. Biren Singh at his bungalow today.

The MHJU while expressing gratitude for addressing grievances and issues related to welfare of the media fraternity, also reminded the CM’s assurance for establishment of Press Clubs in all Hill Districts of the State for a proper office and transit facilities to travelling journalists. The MHJU team also requested the CM to intervene into posting of Translators for different languages in DIPR.

CM Biren categorically asked the MHJU members to fact check projects taken up in Hill Districts to prove the works and promises of the Government. It noted the developmental changes happening in remote villages of the State in last four and half years. He appealed to the people to deal crucial issues like land policies to usher more development projects as many Hill District Headquarters today are suffering due to lack of space for town expansions.

He also briefed the team on various welfare programs, future plans and challenges. While assuring Press Clubs in Senapati and Ukhrul, the CM has asked the District representatives to identify their plot and process through respective Deputy Commissioners at the earliest. He reaffirmed that the Govt will improve other welfare services for the journalists who are working in the Hill Districts of Manipur during the meeting. The CM in the later part of the meeting expressed gratitude to the media fraternity for their commitment to the society.
