Ngathingchan Sharik, loved by Students succumbs to Covid-19

A beloved teacher, Ngathingchan Sharik succumbed to Covid-19 at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) Imphal on Sunday afternoon.

He was the youngest brother of Late Rev. Themshang Sharik who also passed away on June 27 this year.

His remains reached Ukhrul at around 12:45 pm. After a brief stop over for prayer from Church pastor, Late Ngathingchan Sharik’s mortal remains left for his village, Kachai for burial.

Late Ngathingchan Sharik was popularly known among the students as Sir N. Chan in Alice Christian Hr Sec School during the time he was teaching, beloved by his students.

He was a passionate and committed Chemistry teacher. He was said to have joined Manipur Education Department but Late Ngathigchan still worked as a part time teacher in Sentinel College and KTL Excel Hr Sec School, Ukhrul.

“We have lost a dedicated teacher. He was soft spoken and was always there to help us. He will be deeply missed,” grieved a former student.

Sir N. Chan is survived by his wife and three children. His youngest child is just five months old.
