Kohima, June 4: Incessant rainfall has triggered a massive landslide along National Highway-2, causing significant damage between Phesama and Kisama while cutting off the Imphal-Dimapur road (NH-2) and leaving several Manipur-bound and other vehicles stranded on both sides of the affected stretch, an official statement said.

Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister, T.R. Zeliang, also visited the site to assess alternative roads on May 3. The district administration of Jakhama sub-division, led by SDO (Civil) Veneikho Tetso, provided some relief to stranded vehicles and coordinated initial response efforts, it also said.

Local organizations have stepped in to assist. Youth members from Phesama Baptist Church and the Phesama Youth Organisation constructed temporary footpaths to help stranded travellers navigate the damaged area. They also distributed tea and snacks to those affected.
