NH-202 black topping work begins for Ukhrul to Imphal road

Ukhrul: Despite delay in work by NHIDCL, black topping work in National Highway-202 for Imphal to Ukhrul road stretch has begun.

Mahadev Road to Litan is the first and only stretch in process of blacktopping between Yaingangpokpi-Finchcorner road in NH-202 so far.

Ukhrul MLA Ram Muivah IAS (Retd), Phungyar MLA Leishiyo Keishing, Ukhrul DC Krishna Kumar, SDO Ukhrul, NHIDCL Executive Director DS Chaodhury with his executives and sub contractor had inspected the NH-202 construction from Yaingangpokpi to Finch corner on January 25 last.

According to MLA Ram Muivah, he had hoped, as promised by NHIDCL that work for black topping of NH-202 would start from January 28. However, the work did not start as promised.

“The sub contractor, NHIDCL has made wrong promises”, he [Ram Muivah] had said during the inspection on January 25.

Ukhrul MLA Ram Muivah also had said, “Realizing the terrible condition of lifeline for Kamjong and Ukhrul district, chief minister N. Biren Singh conducted a meeting on this issue on January 24 and on his advice we went to inspect the road early morning the next day”.
