Ukhrul, Dec 17: Union minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, today announced the allocation of ₹777.61 crore for the widening and improvement of the Shangshak-Tengnoupal Road (Package-3) section of National Highway-102A in Manipur.

The project, sanctioned under the Annual Plan 2024-25, aims to upgrade the existing single-lane road to a two-lane configuration with a hard shoulder.

The Union minister said the project spans 48 kilometers, starting at Khonglo and ending at Kasom-Khullen, serving as a crucial link between the Ukhrul and Kamjong districts of Manipur. Once completed, the upgraded road is expected to significantly improve connectivity between these key districts.

“This development is poised to enhance road capacity and service quality, significantly lowering vehicle operating costs for users,” Nitin Gadkari said. He further emphasized that the development is expected to act as a catalyst for tourism growth, thereby contributing to the socio-economic progress of the region.
