NJCF Debunks False Social Media Report, Reaffirms Commitment to Peace

UKHRUL: The Nagaland Joint Christian Forum (NJCF) has strongly refuted a false social media report claiming that Sword Vashum walked out of a joint meeting between Kuki and Naga representatives held in Kohima earlier this week.

In a statement issued on Friday, the NJCF expressed deep sadness over the circulation of what it described as “totally false” information that misrepresented the outcome and conduct of the meeting.

According to the Forum, the joint meeting was convened on May 4, 2026, in Kohima at the invitation of the NJCF and witnessed the participation of church and civil society leaders from both the Kuki and Naga communities.

“The meeting was well attended by church and civil leaders from both communities. At no point did Mr. Sword Vashum walk out of the meeting, as alleged in the circulated news,” the statement clarified.

The NJCF asserted that all participants present at the gathering stand witness to the truth and categorically rejected the misinformation being spread online. The Forum warned that such false reports threaten ongoing efforts toward dialogue, reconciliation, and mutual understanding between the two communities.

Reaffirming its commitment to peace-building, the NJCF emphasized that peaceful engagement remains the only viable path forward. “We call upon all Kukis and Nagas to cease from all forms of violent confrontation and to give peace a chance,” the Forum appealed.

Invoking Christian values of unity and reconciliation, the NJCF concluded its statement with an appeal for harmony and understanding among all communities in the region.
