UKHRUL: The Naga people’s organisation (NPO) have called for accountability and transparency from the CoBRA Unit of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and other security agencies involved in the military operation conducted in the Leilon Vaiphei area on 21 June 2026 against the KNF-P insurgent group.
According to NPO, the operation involved an exchange of gunfire and the use of explosives. It is further alleged that nearly 100 armed insurgents belonging to the KNF-P, UKNA, and KRA were surrounded by security forces during the operation. These groups have been accused of involvement in the abduction of 18 innocent Naga civilians and the subsequent brutal killing of six among them.
Despite the scale and intensity of the operation, no arrests have been reported, nor has any significant outcome been publicly disclosed. The eventual withdrawal of the security forces without any visible results has raised serious concerns among the Naga people and prompted questions regarding the effectiveness and intent of the operation.
NPO also indicated that a considerable number of security personnel moved towards the KNF-P’s Ebenezer Camp on 23 June 2026. However, once again, no arrests were made. This development has further deepened public concern and given rise to questions regarding the handling of the situation.
In light of these developments, NPO has earnestly appealed to all Indian security forces to ensure transparency, accountability, and impartial enforcement of the law. They emphasize that justice must be pursued without fear or favour, particularly in cases involving grave crimes against civilians.

NPO also then reminded the authorities that the mortal remains of the six innocent Naga civilians who were abducted and later brutally killed continue to lie in the JNIMS mortuary, awaiting justice and closure for their families.
A charter of demands concerning the incident has already been submitted to the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, and the Chief Minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh.
The NPO further condemned the lathi-charge, arrest, and detention of peaceful democratic agitators at Namdilong–Kanglatongbi during the early hours of 24 June 2026. It contend that such actions cannot be justified while the pursuit of justice for the victims remains unresolved.
Reiterating their demand for justice, accountability, and concrete action against those responsible for the alleged crimes, NPO has urged the authorities to act decisively and uphold the rule of law.
It also warned that if security forces continue to employ what they describe as high-handed measures against peaceful protesters, democratic agitations may be intensified in the future, potentially affecting the movement of military convoys and logistical supplies as a form of protest.
