Shillong, April 14: Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister-in-charge Transport Sniawbhalang Dhar said today there will be no railway project in the Khasi-Jaintia region of the state until and unless everybody is taken on board.
Speaking to media persons, Dhar said, “The Chief Minister has yet to call for an all-party meeting that will include stakeholders. We will discuss it nicely, and we will listen to them.”
He also assured, “Don’t worry, there will be no rail project until and unless everybody is on board. We always work for the people.”

On April 3, the state government constituted an All-Party Committee on issues related to railway connectivity in Meghalaya.
As per the terms of reference, the committee has been asked to examine and find solutions to introduce and construct railways in Meghalaya.
The committee will also assess the cost-benefit analysis of the introduction of railways in the state. It will seek the views of all stakeholders and accordingly submit the recommendation to the state government.
