NPF chief: ‘Power and money mongering politics is not true politics’

Kohima: Naga People’s Front (NPF) president, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu stated today that a selfish minded political leader is not a true leader.

This comment of Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu is significant as 21 of the 25 NPF MLAs had joined the NDPP recently.

“A true leader is one who stands with the principle of the party,” the NPF chief also said.

He was speaking during the Kohima Division NPF consultative meeting in the state capital.

“True politics is to work for the people based on the party principle. Power and money mongering politics is not true politics”, he added.

Dr. Shürhozelie then said that NPF had faced good and bad times or situations. “But since the party is deeply rooted to the Naga people, it is growing with time”, he also stated.

Referring to the recent “defection” of 21 NPF MLAs, the NPF president said that it may be a ‘blessing in disguise’ for the party.

With the recent development, Dr. Shürhozelie also said that there will be lots of rumours to confuse the party leaders. He then urged the party leaders to stand firm on the party principle as the party has full faith that it will “shine soon”.

Dr Shurhozelie then said that the NPF merging with another political party is out of question as “this party belongs to the entire Naga people”. He however said that NPF will always welcome if other political parties join the former.
