Ukhrul, March 26, 2025: The Naga People’s Front (NPF), Manipur State Unit, has issued a clarification regarding reports in local newspapers that suggested all political parties in the state had resolved to oppose the proposed delimitation process.

According to a clarification from the party issued on Wednesday, Honreikhui Kashung, General Secretary of the NPF Manipur State Unit, along with a colleague, attended the All Political Party Meeting held on March 25, 2025, at the NPP Conference Hall, Naoremthong, Imphal.

The NPF maintained that their participation was based on goodwill, with hopes that the meeting would serve as a platform to discuss a roadmap for restoring peace and normalcy in the state.

Further, during the meeting, Honreikhui Kashung pointed out that, as per the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Manipur, there had been no official communication from the Election Commission of India (ECI) to the CEO’s office regarding the delimitation process. He clarified that, in light of this, any discussion on delimitation, particularly in relation to the recent Supreme Court order referenced in print media, was irrelevant at the time.

However, the NPF Manipur State Unit expressed dismay over subsequent reports in local newspapers, which claimed that all political parties had collectively decided to oppose the proposed delimitation process.

The NPF/MSU strongly refuted the claim, while asserting that it does not oppose the delimitation process if and when it is officially initiated.
