NPO Warns Against Intimidation, Destruction of Public Property and Communal Threats

SENAPATI: The Naga People’s Organisation (NPO), Senapati, expressed its deep concern and strong resentment over the ongoing incident at Ireng Naga Village, where cadres of the KNF-P (SoO), under United People’s Front (UPF) allegedly dismantled a waiting shed constructed by the local residents.

In a statement the Naga People’s Organisation (NPO) stated that the situation was further aggravated by the inscription of the unwanted words “Kukiland & Stay away” on a stone which the organisation called an act which is highly provocative, condemnable, and unacceptable.

The Naga People’s Organisation also sought clarification from Tiger Kipgen, alias Thangboi Kipgen/Haogenthang Kipgen, a self-styled commander of the armed wing of the KNF-P, regarding the threats issued to the chairman of Ireng Naga village, warning of an attack on the village. “Such threats are extremely serious in nature and pose a direct challenge to peace, security, and communal harmony in the region,” NPO stated.

The NPO viewed such incidents not merely as an attack on a particular village, but as a direct challenge to the Naga people as a whole. The NPO further mentioned that “Acts of intimidation, destruction of public property, and communal threats cannot and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.”

In the event that the perpetrators failed to surrender and are not held accountable for their actions, the Naga People’s Organisation warned that they will not remain a mute spectator, adding the organisation would be compelled to respond appropriately and in a befitting manner if the culprits are not brought to justice at the earliest.

The NPO urged all concerned authorities to take immediate cognizance of the matter and ensure justice without delay, so as to prevent further escalation of the situation.
