NPP’s deputy CM says seized cash does not belong to Meghalaya’s CM Conrad Sangma

Shillong: Meghalaya unit president of the National People’s Party (NPP) and deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong today said that the cash of Rs 1 crore seized in Arunachal Pradesh does not belong to Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma.

Speaking to reporters, Tynsong said, “I would like to tell you that this seizure made by the officials of the ECI does not belong to chief minister Conrad K Sangma, who is also our national president of the NPP.”

He said the vehicle that the Election Commission of India (ECI) had detained was not at all part of the chief minister’s convoy and the cash of not less than Rs 1.2 crore carried by this vehicle also did not belong to the NPP.

Stating that the matter is under the ECI, the NPP state president said, “Let the ECI take the due course of legal action.”
