NSCN-IM has clarified that the organization was not involved in the reported shootout incident of Arunachal Pradesh.

Clarifying the reports, NSCN-IM said it was not involved in any factional fighting in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh.

“The alleged killing of NSCN (KK) cadre by NSCN has been floating on social media and other print media as well. It was reported that there was a fierce gun battle last Sunday in a jungle near Chatung village in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh,” said the NSCN-IM statement. It was reported that NSCN (KK) member Jomie Konyak was killed in that firing by suspected NSCN-IM members. In this regard, the NSCN-IM statement clarified that it was not involved in any factional fighting in Longding district. “We have nothing to do with Jomie Konyak’s killing,” said the NSCN-IM statement.

NSCN-IM then said that it suspected that certain forces were putting the blame on the former to tarnish its image in the eyes of the Naga people “as most often done by the Assam Rifles (AR) in the course of its smear campaign against NSCN”.
