Dimapur: Naga Army Chief (NSCN-IM) General Ningkhan Shimray addressed the gathering at Naga Army Day at the General Headquarters, Hebron. He emphasized the crucial role of the Naga Army, not in exploiting weaknesses, but in rectifying errors and wholeheartedly backing Naga national policies. He described them as a sacrificial offering, dedicated to serving the national cause until their last breath.
General Ningkhan Shimray called the Army “torchbearers of political consciousness, warriors for Christ,” striving for a future steeped in justice and righteousness. He paid homage to fallen soldiers and pledged to honor their sacrifice for a “sovereign nation of the Nagas.

The chief declared unwavering support for Naga rights and the establishment of the “kingdom of God.” He acknowledged the use of weapons for self-defense but stressed that their future depended on political guidance from party leaders. He emphasized adherence to party directives and unity under the vision of “Nagalim for Christ.”
Every action and initiative, he stated, must be rooted in party principles. Straying from these, he warned, would be “grasping power through force” and breed conflict. He emphasized that upholding these principles safeguards the cause and ensures a unified journey towards the shared vision.

General Ningkhan Shimray declared that no one, including the Army, is above the nation’s law (“Azha”) or constitution (“Yezhabo”). He warned that failing to uphold these principles would lead to regression and a “lawless, reactionary entity.”
The Army’s purpose, he said, is to serve as a catalyst for Naga emancipation. He spoke of transcending clan, village, and tribe to form a “unified family” bound by a singular cause, faith, and shared destination.
Quoting Saint Paul, General Shimray urged the Army to be exemplary soldiers, fixated on the vision of “Nagalim for Christ” and loyal to the national cause. He called for recommitment and reaffirms vows to both God and the nation.

He stressed the need to discard personal ideologies and focus on collective goals. He stated that the Army lacks the authority to dictate the national course and must wholeheartedly follow God-anointed leaders. He emphasized exceptional leadership emerging from devoted followership and God’s calling.
General Shimray concluded by calling for a dual duty: striving diligently and upholding the national cause, the vision of “Nagalim for Christ,” the Framework Agreement principles, and the guidance of leaders. He declared, “This allegiance paves the path toward a future where our united efforts bring forth progress, solidarity, and the realization of our dreams.”
“Long Live the Naga revolutionary Movement, Long Live the Naga Revolutionary Army, Long Live NSCN!”, he shouted the slogan.
