UKHRUL: The National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang (Yung Aung) faction and the Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) have claimed responsibility for an attack on personnel of the 21 Assam Rifles near Nampong in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh on September 29.
The NSCN-K (YA)’s Ministry of Information and Publicity, NSCN/GPRN in a statement on Tuesday said the two groups carried out the joint attack at around 6:30 am, claiming that one Assam Rifles personnel was killed and several others critically injured.
The statement claimed that one Assam Rifles personnel was killed and several others critically injured during the engagement. It also claimed that the joint team recovered an AK assault rifle from the site.

The NSCN-K (YA) statement described the operation as part of its stated opposition to what it called “foreign occupational forces” and said its joint action was aimed at defending its land and people.
The outfit further said the Western South East Asian people remained united in their struggle and concluded the statement with the slogans, “Long Live Western South East Asia” and “Long Live Our Joint Struggle.”
The claim comes after an Assam Rifles patrol came under suspected militant fire near Nampong Nallah along the India–Myanmar border on Tuesday morning. Officials reported that one personnel was killed and four others were injured in the attack. The deceased was identified as havildar Jankhokai Kuki, 42.
