Ukhrul, July 14: The NSCN/GPRN-Yung Aung on Monday said in an official statement that “Indian fascist forces carried out multiple drone strikes” that hit two locations in Eastern Nagaland, targeting camps belonging to ULFA-I and NSCN/GPRN in Hoyat and Pangsau areas.
The attacks, which occurred between 2:00 and 4:00 AM, resulted in multiple casualties, including the death of ULFA-I’s top military commander Lt. Gen. Nayan Asom, the group has confirmed.
The NSCN/GPRN-YA in its condemnation over the strikes, described it as an act of aggression.
“Nayan Asom was among the most committed and finest revolutionary leaders the ULFA-I has ever produced who dedicated his entire life in pursuits of freedom for his people. His unwavering commitment and selfless sacrifice will remain a source of inspiration not only for the Asom people but also for all the oppressed Wesean region,” the statement read.

The NSCN/GPRN-YA also offered condolences to ULFA-I and the families of those killed and injured in the strikes, calling the day a “tragic” one for their shared cause. The group expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Lt. Gen. Asom, hailing him as a committed revolutionary and a staunch advocate for the rights of the Wesean people.
According to the statement, the Government of India (GOI) has ramped up military operations against the NSCN/GPRN-YA cadres in recent months, with reports of increased killings and assaults.
Warning of the consequences of what it called an “unjust war,” NSCN/GPRN-YA said India’s reliance on advanced weaponry and drone technology reveals “weakness and imperialistic mentality, not her strength.”

“India’s ruthless campaign and savage tactics will never break the spirit of the NSCN/GPRN nor the ULFA-I. We remained resolute in our fight against India’s oppression to the last man standing. Our struggle is based on truth and justice. Every drop of blood will continue to speak the truth and it will be a proof that brutal oppression and genocide still exist even in the 21st Century. Even though the price is high, we will fight and resist for our history, land and dignity. The victory of the Wesean people is inevitable and justice will be served,” the statement said.
