Kohima, July 16: The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) informed today that Nagaland will witness moderate rain to heavy rain with thunderstorms in all districts until July 23, 2025.

Between July 16 and July 21, heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected in the districts of Mon, Tseminyu, Niuland, Dimapur and Kohima. The remaining districts are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall which may intensify during this period. As a result, it is vital to take the necessary measures at this period, including avoiding lightning strikes and high winds, which can disrupt communication and connectivity, the NSDMA said.

Due to the risk of high precipitation in the hill sector, Nagaland’s lowland and foothill districts, including Dimapur, Niuland, Chumoukedima, Bhandari, Baghty, Tizit, and Tuli are vulnerable to inundated water logging and flash floods. In this regard, the low-lying districts have been requested to implement precautionary measures in light of the current flood situation:

The NSDMA then urged the public to exercise caution to avoid any eventualities during this period. The NSDMA, Home Department, also requested all the District Disaster Management Authorities and other line departments to remain on high alert to safeguard lives and property during the monsoon season.
