On illegal mining, Titostarwell Chyne says, people to check the illegalities if the government fails to take steps

The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), Titostarwell Chyne on Wednesday stated that the illegal mining and transportation of coal will have a bad impact on the District Council share.

“We strongly condemn the illegalities on coal going on in our state because these illegal activities and the leakage will have a bad impact on the District Council share,” he told reporters.

Stating that the state government should see that all the illegal activities related to coal should stop immediately, he said that the KHADC will have to engage their people to check the illegalities if the government fails to take steps.

When asked about the serious allegation against the NPP-led MDA government who has been accused of involvement in this illegal act and UDP being its coalition partner, he however stated that he has no information if some are involved as a party in this illegality.
