One dead in grocery fire at Thoubal distt

Thoubal: A fire that broke out at a grocery shop located on Tuesday at Wangjing Tekcham Leikai under Thoubal district left one person injured and one person killed.

Sources say the fire broke out at around 5:10 pm.

The deceased is identified as a 60-year-old Tekcham Sanahal Meitei, son of (L) T Naran Meitei of Wangjing Tekcham Leikai.

The other person who sustained fire injury is identified as one Tekcham Selungna Meitei (46), son of T Kullachandra from the same locality. Tekcham is said to be out of danger as per a doctor report.

An enquiry conducted on the cause of the fire suspects that the incident may have occurred from sudden and accidental catching of fire from petrol kept inside the grocery shop.

Further, the family members of the deceased has requested not to take up any legal procedures reportedly saying that there was no question of any foul play.
