One electrocuted in Mailiang village, another critically injured

Kamjong: In a terrifying incident during a PMGSY construction at Mailiang (Meiring) village, VS. Somipam, a dipper driver from Lamlang gate village was electrocuted by an electric main wire.

A construction worker named Yaruithan Chithung who also received serious shocks was hospitalized in Imphal.  

The incident reportedly took place around 1:30 pm on Monday at Mailiang (Meiring) village Chumram Ramtook during a PMGSY road construction.

It is reported that, the incident came to light when a friend made a phone call to Yaruithan Chithung.

Fortunately, at that time he was able to pick up the call and informed the caller about the incident and that the dipper driver had died on that particular spot. At around 3 pm, Mailiang village headman/Village Authority got information of the incident.

The body of the deceased VS. Somipam was picked up and was kept at Mailiang village rest house till 7:45 pm last night, sources said.
