One more dies of COVID-19 related issues in Meghalaya

One more person has died due to COVID-19 related issues, taking the death toll to 144 in Meghalaya on Wednesday, Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said.

“The immediate cause of the death was due to trifascicular block cardiac arrest while the antecedent cause was covid positive,” he said.

The state has recorded 18 new COVID-19 cases and 9 recoveries on Wednesday.

Dr War said the new cases included 13 in East Khasi Hills district and 5 in West Jaintia Hills district.

He informed that 9 patients who recovered from the viral infection include 8 from East Khasi Hills and 5 from West Jaintia Hills.

So far, the state has detected a total of 13,669 COVID-19 cases out of which 160 are active cases, 13,365 recovered and 144 deaths.

East Khasi Hills has 116 active cases, West Jaintia Hills 30, West Garo Hills 1, North Garo Hills 4, West Khasi Hills 2, Ri Bhoi 3 and East Jaintia Hills 3.

On the other hand, of the 3,12,221 persons who have tested for COVID-19 in the state as on date, 2,98,552 were tested negative for the virus even as 57 persons are in institutional quarantine and 102 under home quarantine.

There are 82,340 entrants from outside the state.
