GUWAHATI (SHABD): The flood situation in Assam has shown signs of improvement, though 1,78,837 people continue to be affected across seven districts—Golaghat, Sivasagar, Charaideo, Bajali, Dhemaji, Sonitpur and Jorhat, according to the latest report of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).
Floodwaters have affected 20 revenue circles and 349 villages, with Charaideo remaining the worst-hit district. About 15,060 hectares of agricultural land continue to remain submerged.
The ASDMA said the flood-related death toll in the state stands at 82, with no fresh fatalities reported in the latest update.

The Dikhow River at Sivasagar and the Dhansiri River at Numaligarh continue to flow above the danger level, although the overall flood situation has eased.
Authorities have set up 44 relief camps, providing shelter to around 15,000 displaced people, while relief and rehabilitation measures, including the distribution of food, safe drinking water, medical assistance and other essential supplies, are continuing in the affected areas.
Meanwhile, the Central Government has approved the advance release of ₹2,117.85 crore under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to seven flood-affected states. Of this, Assam has received ₹379.35 crore as the first instalment to support relief and rehabilitation efforts.
