People’s Convention of Liangmai Community slated for January 10, 2025

Ukhrul: The Liangmai Naga Council, Manipur in a partial modification of the previous notification dated 30th November 2024, said it has officially announced the holding of People’s Convention of Liangmai Community on 10th January 2025.

As per the Liangmai Naga Council’s notification, the convention will take place at the Hamai Tasiiky Auditorium Hall, Tamei (Namraining), with a primary focus on discussing the protection of the community’s ancestral land.

The Liangmai community has raised concerns over the encroachment of its ancestral land by neighbouring areas, stating, “Our ancestral land has been encroached upon by outsiders/neighbours such as Konsaram, Taphou, Rajamei, Chawangkining, Marenmai Village etc. and amalgamation of our territory to other region.”

In a call for collective action, the convening organisers have requested the participation of all frontal organisation leaders, community intellectuals, social workers, as well as village chiefs, chairpersons, and secretaries.
