Poll related violence in Ccpur Dist: Assault, violent attack reported in Singngat AC ahead of by-election

In what could be termed as pre-poll violence in Singngat Assembly Constituency an individual was assaulted at Tangpijol village and several rounds of gun shot were also heard at near Thingkangphai village last night.

Sources said that some individuals coming on Bolero and other vehicles from Behiang side dropped at Tanpijol village. Their vehicle had BJP Flag and identified themselves as workers of GS Haopu. They assaulted Mr Thangminlian and Minlian who were at Tangpijol village for house construction work.

Later, another incident occurred near Thingkangphai village. Several rounds of gun shots were heard around 8:40pm on Wednesday.

The two incident is likely to have connection as per some social media groups.
Moment after these incidents, social media groups have been flooded with allegations and counter allegations.

A post in social media groups said that unknown miscreants intruded Tangpijol village and assaulted a worker of Chinlunthang. Angered by the incident supporters of Chinlunthang drove towards the area and attacked them.

Another social media post stated that workers of Ginsuanhau and GS Haopu who were on election campaign at Tangoijol village were waylaid and attacked by the workers of Chinlunthang at near Lanmawl village.

The village chief of Thingkangphai and Tangpijol issued seperate condemnation and demanded apology from responsible persons.

Chief of Thingkangphai village Chinkhanniang issued condemnation on the indiscriminate firing by unknown miscreants and creating fear psychosis among the villagers of Thingkangphai. Terming the incident as barbaric and uncivilized act he demand apology from the responsible persons.

On the other hand Mr M Suankhanmang, chief of Tangpijol village strongly condemned the assault on Thangminlian. He demanded the involved persons to tender apology at the earliest. He also appealed not to repeat such act in future.
