Public Accounts Committee takes note of problems faced by govt functionaries

The Public Accounts Committee of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly is seeking better coordination of all line departments in North Garo Hills district.

This was communicated to the heads of all these line departments by the convener of the committee, Zenith M Sangma during a review meeting which was held at the Circuit House at Resubelpara on Monday.

Sangma, along with committee members George Lyngdoh and Lazarus M Sangma reviewed the  status of the ongoing central and state sponsored schemes in the district and stressed on the importance of coordination and progressive efforts among the line departments for the proper implementation of these schemes.

The committee has also taken serious note of the problems being faced by the government functionaries in the district and has also taken into consideration the suggestions presented for the redressal of these issues.

During the meeting, the members discussed various schemes including MGNREGA, PMAYG, PMGSY, schemes under PWD, Fisheries, Forest and issues relating to transport and medical departments were discussed.

Others who were present in the meeting were R P Marak, Deputy Commissioner, North Garo Hills, ADC, Z J Sangma, BDOs, Ripamchi Sangma, Kapil Koch, Rosalinda D Shira and officials from other line departments.

The committee members will visit Mendipathar Multipurpose Cooperative Society tomorrow where a similar review meeting will be held.
