Pherzawl, October 30: The District Health Society (DHS), Pherzawl, organized an awareness programme on animal bites and their management at Government High School, Senvon, on Thursday, as part of the Sardar@150 initiative. The programme saw participation from students and teachers of various schools in the area.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Hmanglamkhup Kom, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Pherzawl, expressed concern over the increasing number of dog bite cases across districts, some of which have led to fatalities. He underscored the need for immediate first aid and timely reporting to the nearest health centre for anti-rabies vaccination after any suspected rabid dog bite.

Dr. Kom further advised pet owners to ensure that their dogs are vaccinated once between 14 to 16 weeks of age and then annually to curb the spread of rabies.
As part of the initiative, DHS also launched the second round of deworming drug distribution for students under PHC Senvon, reaffirming its commitment to improving public health and community well-being.
