Ukhrul, June 12: Widespread confusion gripped the public in Imphal East and West districts on Thursday following a rumour that Arambai Tenggol was planning to storm government offices and the Governor’s residence.

The unverified information triggered panic, forcing several schools to remain shut despite the government’s directive to reopen educational institutions from today.

Concerned residents scrambled to verify whether curfew relaxations had been revised, adding to the chaos. However, authorities swiftly issued a clarification stating that the curfew relaxation period remains unchanged, from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM in both Imphal East and West districts.

To further allay public fears, a press note from the Arambai Tenggol General Headquarters Control Room, issued by Operator Laishram Robason, firmly denied any plan to storm government establishments.

The group clarified that it only intends to hold peaceful sit-in demonstrations to press for its demands.
