Imphal: Congress is more of a family enterprise than a police party, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra who is also party in-charge of Manipur said today.

Taking part in a “Eigi Emung BJP-Gi Emung” campaign in Thangmeiband Assembly constituency in Imphal West district, Patra said that the Congress has become more of a family enterprises while alleging that the party inclines to dynastic service leaving behind the ideology of being a political party aimed at public service.

He then said that the difference between Congress and BJP is that Congress’s service confines only to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi while that of the BJP is to serve the people. “When the Congress ruled the state, its leaders went to Delhi to meet its Central leaders and for this, a chief minister or a minister had to camp in Delhi for days waiting for appointment to meet with the Central leaders,” the BJP leader also said.

“However, since the BJP came to power in the state, the state chief minister and ministers going to Delhi to meet Central leaders has become a thing of the past,” he claimed. “Instead, Delhi comes here in Imphal,” he said while referring to the Union ministers visiting the state “to overlook the developmental programmes taken up under their respective ministries”.

While referring to the Congress as “mother and son party”, Patra said the party has pushed the people of the state into the pool of woes. “To make Manipur a developed state, there is no party other than BJP”, he claimed.

Many leaders of the state unit of the BJP took part in the Eigi Emung BJP-Gi Emung campaign. It is a campaign of the party to reach out to every household across Manipur and deliver the report card of the developmental activities taken up by the BJP-led coalition government.
