Sangmirin Horam & Phaningkhui Lungleng to Represent Manipur at National Karate Championship

Ukhrul, Feb 25: Two lads from Ukhrul, Sangmirin Horam and Phaningkhui Lungleng, are set to represent the Manipur Amateur Karate-do Association (MAKA) at the KIO All India Karate Championship, organized by Karate India Organisation in Hyderabad.

Shimnganing Marzah, Technical Director of the Ukhrul District Karate-do Association (UDKA), informed that “In the 17th edition of the Manipur Amateur Karate-do Championship 2025, 10 players from Ukhrul District participated and secured three gold medals and three silver medals. Sangmirin Horam, son of Yaruingam Horam and Ninghorla Horam from Phungcham village, secured gold in the Under-21 category. Phaningkhui Lungleng, son of Khanot Lungleng and Ngalathui Lungleng from Pharung village, also secured gold in the Under-21 category, while Vareso Muivah, son of Dantis Muivah and Chanthing Muivah from Muirei village, secured gold in the 7-year category.”

“The silver medalists are Solum Marzah, son of Yaruingam Marzah and Lanotla Marzah from Chingjaroi village (13-year category); Timlui AS, daughter of Makanmi AS and Sarah AS from Tashar village (9-year category); and KA Longchuiphy Shimray, son of KA Standson Shimray and KA Leiyawon Shimray from Nungshong Khunou (11-year category).”

“Sangmirin Horam and Phaningkhui Lungleng have been selected to represent Manipur at the national-level championship in Hyderabad,” added Shimnganing Marzah.

The players are trained by Shimnganing Marzah, the one and only Karate India Organisation-certified coach from Ukhrul District.
