Seven Oting Villagers Allegedly Killed in Assam Rifles Ambush in Nagaland

Ukhrul, December 4: In an unconfirmed report coming out of Mon Sadar Circle of Mon district in Nagaland, at least seven Oting villagers were allegedly shot dead by Assam Rifles in an ambush on Saturday evening around 4 pm.

Sources said that the Oting villagers were returning from a coal mine, on their way to their village from Tiru by a pick up truck when the ambush took place.

According to reliable sources, situation in the area is grievously tense as the public are said to have confronted the security forces in retaliation to the killing of seven villagers, setting ablaze vehicles belonging to Assam Rifles. Unconfirmed number of AR personnel were overpowered by the villagers.

The number of casualty could substantially rise by morning as the confrontation with Assam Rifles continues, sources added.
