Ukhrul, May 5: The NSCN/GPRN in a statement said the National workers of the NSCN from Somdal held a political consultative meeting with Th. Muivah, the outfit’s General Secretary and Chief Political Negotiator, on April 29 at his official residence in Wungram Colony, Dimapur. The meeting ended with a firm show of support for Th. Muivah’s leadership and a collective pledge to continue the struggle for Nagalim’s political rights and sovereignty.

As per the NSCN/GPRN, in a resolution it adopted at the gathering:

1. The Somdal national workers’ consultative meeting concluded that the Chief Political Negotiator, Th. Muivah, General Secretary–Ato Kilonser, NSCN/GPRN, has consolidated the Nagalim Political Foundation in defending Nagalim’s unique history and Nagalim’s sovereignty for the following important reasons:

a) The Somdal national workers’ consultative meeting concluded that the condemnation of the betrayed 1975 Shillong Accord and the subsequent formation of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) in 1980 is in defence of Nagalim’s unique history and Nagalim’s sovereignty.

b) The Somdal national workers’ consultative meeting concluded that the Indo-Naga political dialogue, which started on August 1, 1997, recognized and acknowledged that Nagalim is not the internal matter of India (or Burma [Myanmar], as the case may be), and that the political dialogue began with due recognition and acknowledgement of Nagalim’s sovereignty, as the talks began at the Prime Minister level, without pre-condition and outside India, in a third country.

c) The Somdal national workers’ consultative meeting concluded that, with the signing of the Amsterdam Joint Communiqué of July 11, 2002, between the Government of India (GoI) and the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN), the GoI has officially recognized and acknowledged the unique history and situation of Nagalim, admitting that Nagalim was/is never a part of India (or Burma [present-day Myanmar], as the case may be). Therefore, the Amsterdam Joint Communiqué of July 11, 2002, officially admits Nagalim’s sovereignty.

d) The Somdal national workers’ consultative meeting deeply appreciated the late Chairman Isak Chishi Swu and the Chief Political Negotiator, Th. Muivah, General Secretary–Ato Kilonser, NSCN/GPRN, for having signed the Framework Agreement of August 3, 2015, on the foundation of the recognition and acknowledgement of Nagalim’s unique history and Nagalim’s sovereignty.

Since sovereignty represents and constitutes identity, the letter and spirit of the Framework Agreement of August 3, 2015, officially recognize and acknowledge the sovereign Nagalim national flag and the sovereign Nagalim national constitution.

2. The Somdal national workers’ consultative meeting therefore deeply appreciates and is thankful to the Chief Political Negotiator, Th. Muivah, General Secretary–Ato Kilonser, NSCN/GPRN, for having consolidated and defended Nagalim and the Naga people’s mandate on Nagalim’s unique history and Nagalim’s sovereignty.

3. The Somdal national workers’ consultative meeting therefore resolves that we shall carry forward the Nagalim national struggle based on the national foundation and legacy laid down by the Chief Political Negotiator, Th. Muivah, General Secretary–Ato Kilonser, NSCN/GPRN, to the last, come what may.

The resolutions are agreed to and endorsed by all the Somdal national workers of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN), wherever they are, and the resolution is signed on their behalf by the Convener and Secretary of the Somdal national workers.”
