UKHRUL: Marking a major humanitarian outreach amid the ongoing conflict in Manipur, six student organizations on Saturday distributed essential supplies to residents of Choro, Wanglee, and Namlee villages in Kamjong district.

The relief drive was jointly carried out by the All Manipuri Students Union, Manipuri Students Federation, Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur, Kangleipak Students’ Association, Students’ Union of Kangleipak, and Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup. Rice, dal, onions, potatoes, and cooking oil were distributed to families in the three villages, which recently came under attack by suspected Kuki militant group KNA (B).

According to the Global Naga Forum, Choro village, which has around 700 houses, saw 22 homes burnt down during the violence. In Wanglee, a village of about 350 houses, five homes were destroyed, while Namlee, with nearly 250 houses, reported three houses burnt. The attacks have displaced several families and severely disrupted the livelihoods of residents in the affected villages.
