No to litter campaign under the theme ‘Action for Rivers’ was held on Saturday, initiated by Environmental Force at Grass Root Level (ENFOGAL) a nonprofit organisation in association with Lungshang katamnao Long, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Ukhrul and  The Higher Themzan Academy (ENFOGAL Squad) where a unified clean up drive was taken up at Lungshang kong.

Over 40 youths and students enthusiastically participated, showed their willingness to contribute towards a cleaner and healthier environment.

The main purpose of the event was to highlight the significance of rivers, which act as a vital source for livelihood, irrigation and drinking water and most importantly maintain ecological stability to our environment. Despite all these, it is under severe threats from various anthropogenic activities. This was vividly witnessed at the spot, with messes all around the river as it is also one of the iconic spots for tourism.

The team collected around 100 kgs of waste from Lungshang kong mostly plastic waste. We also urge the public to raise more awareness and instill behaviour transformations to help in restoring the beauty of the river.
