Tamenglong: One-day Open Political Seminar Held for Youth, Women Supporters of Samuel Jendai

TAMENGLONG: A one-day open political seminar for youth and women supporters of Samuel Jendai, INC intending candidate, was held at Model Village, Ward No. 3, Tamenglong Headquarters, on Thursday.

The programme began with a welcome address and keynote speech by Dichun Kahmei, president of the Block Congress Committee (BCC), Tamenglong.

The seminar focused on various government schemes and issues concerning youth and women, including the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), women empowerment schemes, the Chief Minister Women Economic Empowerment Scheme (CMWEES), the proposed Anti-Conversion and FCRA Amendment Bill 2026, and the National Register of Citizens (NRC).

During the sessions, resource persons addressed participants on different topics. Kalangaipou Riamei, Assistant Defence Counsel, spoke on the PMAY scheme, while Advocate Lanjuanliu Newmei spoke on women empowerment schemes. KC Glady, Social Worker, addressed the gathering on the CMWEES. Kaningai Riamei, Social Entrepreneur, spoke on the Anti-Conversion and FCRA Amendment Bill 2026, while Daniel Kamsuan, Advocate, spoke on NRC.

The speakers also highlighted the importance of democracy and citizens’ rights, stating that every citizen has the right to safeguard their customs, traditions, religion and language. They further maintained that the Indian National Congress has been defending the rights of minorities and safeguarding the Constitution of India.

The seminar was attended by a large number of Congress supporters, party workers and senior Congress leaders from the district.
