Remains of 4 Nagas Killed in Attack Brought to Senapati District Hospital

SENAPATI, AUGUST 28: The mortal remains of four persons killed on Thursday in between Makui Ashang and Thanamba Naga in Kangpokpi district by suspected Kuki armed groups reached Senapati District Hospital on Friday morning after their movement was reportedly stopped at T Waichong, a Kuki village.

The Kangpokpi SP visited the spot to assess the situation, following which the bodies were allowed to proceed this morning under CRPF escort.

The mortal remains were first received by civil society organisations (CSOs) of Senapati at Thonglang Atongba, a Liangmei village, at around 8:30 am. The village authority presented four shawls for the deceased during the reception.

The bodies subsequently reached Senapati District Hospital at around 10:24 am, where they have been kept for post-mortem examination.

A large number of people gathered along the route and at the reception point to receive and pay their respects to the deceased. Several family members reportedly fainted upon receiving the mortal remains and were placed on IV drips at the hospital.

Meanwhile, Gaikamang Ringkangmai, 44, who sustained a grievous injury to his left forearm, is undergoing treatment at Senapati District Hospital.

Japou MK, a student leader from Thonglang Akutpa who reportedly escaped the incident, is also at the district hospital.
