Tangkhul Welfare Society Mumbai organises Football Tournament to aid Welfare Summit 2023

Mumbai: The 2nd edition of Football Tournament organized by Tangkhul Welfare Society Mumbai (TWSM) was held on August 16 at United city Football Turf Kalina Mumbai from 10 am till 10 pm.

In a statement released by TWSM, it said, “the objective of this tournament is to raise fund for the upcoming event of Cities Union/Welfare Summit of Tangkhul Students’ Union/Welfare, which will be hosted by TWSM. This will be the 2nd Summit after three years. The first one was hosted by Tangkhul Katamnao Long Shillong in the year 2019 but was halted due to COVID crisis.”

The aim and ojective of the Summit is to assess the changes that is occurring around the Tangkhul society and to explore the ways in which community-based organization such as the students’ union or welfare societies can take up proactive roles for the development of the community in this ever-changing world by adopting the concepts of sustainability and social networking in the services, they offer especially to the student members of the community.

“The Summit is open for all cities in the country where there is Tangkhul Students Union or Tangkhul Welfare Society whichever is looking after our students and youth. Through this media we would also like to inform and invite all the Tangkhul leaders- presidents/chairman/convenor of Union or Welfare across the country to be part of this summit. For further details and information, kindly reach out to Tangkhul Welfare Society Mumbai. At the moment we have notified to 15 cities Union/Welfare for this summit,” it added.

The tournament saw a huge crowd turned up cheering for their team and participating in various fun games items. The fun filled day saw 12 FCs, of which 8 were men’s team and 4 were women’s team.

The final league match was played between Ihao A FC and Tribal Thunder FC for both men and women. In both the matches (men & women), the Tribal Thunder FC under the thunderous cheering of the crowd emerged to be the Team Champion of the tournament. Tribal Thunder FC is managed by Thotmahai Raingam with captaincy of Chirchom Kumrah. The team champion of the 1st edition of the tournament, Ihao A FC was the runners. Ihao A FC is managed by Mathhew Siro with the captaincy of Ningkhan Valui. 

Stating that the tournament was a great success, the TWSM ended their note by expressing gratitude and appreciations to all the clubs and all the Mumbai Tangkhuls for their relentless support to the welfare.
