‘The Tamenglong Times’ Observes 10th Anniversary

Ukhrul, June 28: The Tamenglong Times, a local daily published in Tamenglong district, Manipur observed its 10th anniversary on Saturday. Established on June 22, 2015 at the district headquarters, the daily is published in Rongmei and English. The occasion was an opportunity to reflect on the history and journey of The Tamenglong Times.

Associate Editor Gangonglung Panmei welcomed the members and acknowledged the founding members and their tireless efforts to establish the daily. 

Speaking at the event, Editor Jimmy Pamei walked down the memory lane. He recalled how the paper was organized in 2015, how they ran from pillar to post to continue its publication amid various challenges.

Pamei also recalled various challenging incidents they had encountered while disseminating information to the masses as the fourth pillar of democracy. He also spoke about the advantages the media now enjoys with good communication facilities, especially the internet and various online news agencies.

The attendees read the Bible portion “Hitherto hath the LORD helped us” (1st Samuel 7:12) and gave thanks to God for blessing the publication thus far.

The event held at the farmhouse of Keikhumjanang Gonmei located along Dailong-Tamenglong road was also attended by family members of the staff.

The Tamenglong Times team also planted about 20 trees around the anniversary spot.
