Kohima: Nagaland Police personnel of Narcotic Cell arrested three persons for possessing suspected opium.
According to police, around 9 am while conducting surprise MVCP at NH-2, police intercepted one Mahindra Scorpio (Pearl white color) bearing Reg.No.AS02AA/2619 at National Highway-2 near Viswema Y Junction Pfutsero in Nagaland which was proceeding from Imphal, Manipur via Kohima to Nagaon in Assam. Thorough checking of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of 10 packets containing around 9 kg of suspected opium, the police added.

Accordingly, occupants of the vehicle identified as Ameer Khan (29), S/o Saleem Mohammed from Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh, Iman Ali (49) from Nagaon district of Assam and Ramjan Ali (20), also from Nagaon district of Assam were arrested and the illegal contraband along with the vehicle duly seized, the Nagaland police further said.
A case, vide Narcotic Cell Police Station Case No. 13/2022, U/S18(b)/60 NDPS Act, has been registered for further investigation.
