UKHRUL: Outrage continues to mount over the killing of six Naga civilians by suspected Kuki militants in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district, with the Tirap, Changlang, and Longding People’s Forum, Arunachal Pradesh, expressing profound grief and deep anguish at the incident. The forum has also called for swift and impartial action from the authorities.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, the forum issued its strongest condemnation, describing the brutal and inhuman killing of the six innocent Naga men on 13 June 2026 as a barbaric and senseless act of violence. It said the incident is a grave assault on the sanctity of human life and a blatant violation of fundamental human rights. “No cause, ideology, or circumstance can ever justify the taking of innocent lives in such a cruel and merciless manner,” the forum asserted.

The forum further referred to disturbing reports alleging that Naga women hostages were forced to consume the flesh of their own brothers after the killings, and were subjected to degrading and inhuman treatment. “If verified, such acts would represent a shocking violation of human dignity and further deepen the anguish and trauma suffered by the affected families and communities. These atrocities not only inflict irreparable pain upon the bereaved families but also threaten peace, harmony, and communal coexistence in the region,” it stated.

The forum urged the State and Central governments to immediately direct the concerned law enforcement agencies to undertake an urgent, impartial, transparent, and thorough investigation into the crime. It demanded that those responsible for these barbaric acts be swiftly identified, apprehended, and brought to justice in accordance with due process of law.

It further appealed to the authorities to strengthen law-and-order mechanisms and ensure adequate measures for the safety, security, and protection of all citizens, irrespective of community or background. “Any delay or inaction in addressing such grave incidents only undermines public confidence in the rule of law and the administration of justice,” the forum cautioned.

Expressing its deepest and heartfelt condolences, the forum said it stands in solidarity with the bereaved families who have suffered an irreparable loss. It prayed that the Almighty grant eternal peace to the departed souls, and strength, comfort, and courage to the families left behind.
