Ukhrul, Jan 29: Several Tangkhul civil organizations, including the apex body Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), have urged the Chief Minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh, to revoke the transfer order of Kengoo Zuringla, IAS, the Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul District.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, the TNL and its affiliated organizations—such as the Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (Tangkhul Student Union), Tangkhul Awunga Long (Tangkhul Naga Headman Association), Tangkhul Shanao Long (Tangkhul Women Union), and Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (Tangkhul Youth Council)—called for the immediate cancellation of Kengoo Zuringla’s transfer order in the public interest. The organizations expressed that there has been growing public pressure to revoke the transfer and highlighted Kengoo Zuringla’s humane and no-nonsense approach to handling public and official responsibilities.

They stated, “The public of Ukhrul District has greatly benefited from having an effective and efficient Deputy Commissioner in Kengoo Zuringla, IAS.”

Acknowledging the sentiment of the local community, they humbly requested that Kengoo Zuringla’s transfer order be canceled and that she be retained for at least two more years, asserting that this request is made strictly in the public interest.

Additionally, the Zingsho Katamnao Long, the apex student organization representing the eastern Tangkhul community of Kamjong and Ukhrul districts, also made a passionate appeal to the state government to revoke the transfer order and retain Kengoo Zuringla as Deputy Commissioner for a longer period. The organization expressed that the transfer order issued by the Department of Personnel, Government of Manipur, on January 28, 2025, has shocked the people of Kamjong and Ukhrul districts, labeling it a premature decision by the government.

“Kengoo Zuringla, IAS, is a dedicated government servant and competent administrator who is preferred and admired by people from various sections of the community. Ukhrul district has experienced significant positive changes and overall improvement during her tenure,” the organization remarked, praising the Deputy Commissioner. Additionally, they questioned the rationale behind her transfer after being posted just a year ago.

The student body urged the state government to immediately revoke the transfer order and retain the official for an extended period, vowing to extend their cooperation and support to the current government.
