TAMENGLONG: The Tousem HQ Student’s Union and Village Authority Chairman Council (VACC) Tousem urged the Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong to resume NH-137 (Tamenglong—Mahur Road) project under JANDU Company Package-5 by April 10 and warned that failure to do so will be met with democratic agitations.

In a letter to the DC submitted on Thursday, the students’ union and VACC stated that the construction work along the road portion starting from 54.180 km near Azuram to 80.630 km near Mandeu had stopped since May 2025 while the remaining portion package 1 to 6 are under good progress, except package 5.

It also mentioned that all the existing road passing through Tamenglong Tousem is cut off due to the said construction work (of Package 1-6).

Highlighting the difficulty of commuting during the rainy season, the students’ union and VACC appealed to the DC to resume work by April 10 and complete the project within the stipulated time.

The students’ union and VACC warned of launching democratic forms of agitation if  work is not resumed by April 10 while cautioning that all the consequences will be borne by the concerned authority.
