Tusom christian village on Sunday organised fasting prayer and thanksgiving for MLA Khashim Vashum seeking heavenly grace and blessings for the native son as he prepares for the upcoming general election, and thanked almighty God for given him the platform to serve as people’s representative of 45-Chingai (ST) assembly constituency.
Vashum who is elected from Naga People’s Front ticket in 2017 election was administered formal blessings invoked by Rev Bijoy R Shimray, local pastor and Rathing Zimik, headman Tusom christian.
Earlier, Rathing Zimik also unveiled the NPF flag in the presence of village headmen, mantri, and chairmen drawn from 26 Chingai kendra; neighbouring villages pastors, TNL president, TNWL president, Raphei Wungnao Long president, Teinem, Phalee and Talui ex-ADC members, NPF party workers, neighbouring villagers and well wishers.
Zimik had appealed the kendra people to maintain unity and ensure victory in the forthcoming elections too, and called for their unstinting support.
The fasting, thanksgiving and blessing programme was jointly organised by Tusom CV Baptist church, and Tusom CV Village Authority.
Speaking at the occasion, MLA Khashim Vashum thanked the area people, village headmen, chairmen, leaders of various organisations, and well wishers for their support, and admitted that there are crucial works which he had not taken up. “I assure you that those unfinished works will be done at the earliest.”
Highlighting some of his achievements, he said majority of the inter-village road had been blacktopped. The remaining few would also be done at the earliest.
He said using my two ambulance, I had done what I could for the patients of 44-Ukhrul and 45-Chingai people during the Covid pandemic.
Stating that he is not an MLA of Tusom village, but the people’s representative of Chingai assembly constituency, Khashim said, “Ensuring robust power and water supply, good road transport and communication and delimitation is close to my heart besides other issues.”
Vashum stated that bill amounting to 1024 crore for the construction of two lane starting from Yangangpokpi to Jessami had been already sanctioned by Union minister Nitin Gadkari, and urged village headmen and chairmen to give their cooperation and support so that no time is wasted in the land acquisition process, and the work is initiated withouth further delay as it is for the greater good of the people.
He said for water supply project, out of 53 villages under Chingai AC only three villages are left unattended and assured that it too would be implemented at the earliest.
Speaking at the occasion NPF leader Shimreingam emphasised on the essence of unity. “MLA Khashim is an asset for the people of Chingai assembly constituency.
He then made a clarion appeal to Tusom village and villages in the area to maintain unity and strengthen NPF party by ensuring the same collective support it had exercised in the last election be ensured to pave way for victory in the upcoming election due early next year.
Shangmayo Vashum, headman New Tusom village called for unity and vouched for sitting NPF MLA Khashim to be the next representative of the Chingai again.
SMDC chairman Chinaorar Horam thanked MLA Khashim for the upgradation of Tusom high school to higher secondary school.
